Unit Sports & Culture is looking for an ‘Improvisational Theatre’ teacher for Delft Improv Group

TU Delft's Unit Sports & Culture is looking for an Improvisational Theatre teacher at Delft Improv Group (DIG) for quarters Q3 and Q4 (13 February 13 – 30 June 2017).

For the past 3 years, DIG has been organizing weekly ‘Improv Jams’ and has been performing in shows and workshops on a regular basis. In addition, the association organizes trips, movie nights and even an improv weekend! They mainly focus on short-form improv scene work, but they like to experiment with different variants. Although the way the association works might seem playful, it is their goal to seriously work on improving competences such as concentration, acceptance, self-confidence, creativity and public speaking. The association is formed by a multicultural group, therefore the official language of the association is English. Finally, they strive to be as accessible as possible for all who are interested. Are you the person who can motivate and assist DIG? Then we are looking for you to teach them.

The goal of Unit Sports & Culture is to create added value for the university as a whole by contributing to the personal development of the students, the quality of campus life and the social engagement of the TU Delft. Together with around 50 student organisations, hundreds of teachers and trainers (mainly part-time), and many other people inside and outside the university, S&C offers a varied and dynamic programme in which some 13,000 students and staff participate each year.

The TU Delft is the home sponsor of DIG and is the principal of all the trainers and teachers of the associations. The accommodation and the Improvisational Theatre teacher, as well as other material costs, are sponsored by TU Delft.

Primary tasks

  • Providing weekly improvisational theatre lessons (2,5 hours) in English to a group of up to 15 people;
  • Coaching students by preparing teaching content, giving constructive feedback and monitoring members’ progress.

DIG has 2 improvisation sessions each week, on Mondays and Thursdays from 19:00 to 21:30. We are looking for a teacher who will guide one of these sessions (preferably on Thursdays). The other one will remain as the regular open jam of the week without teacher.

We offer

  • Excellent facilities, provided by Unit Culture at the TU Delft;
  • A work employment contract for a fixed term with employment agency Unique, on the basis of which the role as teacher for S&C can be fulfilled. There is also a possibility to work as a self-employed contractor (zzp’er) according a set contract for deployment.

We require

  • Affinity with working with students;
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility and ambition;
  • Understanding of and experience with theatre improvisation (with theatre diploma or demonstrable experience);
  • High proficiency in English.
